A “Birder’s” Paradise

Hundreds of “birders” flock to Block Island each fall, as do thousands of Warblers, rare Sparrows and vagrants. A National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1973 with the transfer of 28 acres from the US Coast Guard. Today the refuge covers 127 acres at the North end of the island. Beaches

Block Island’s beaches are spectacular no matter what the season. Visitors love coming to Block Island to enjoy our clean coastline where you can always find a place to relax and enjoy that book you have been meaning to read. There are no fees to enter any beach and parking is all free.

Block Island’s Greenway Trails

The Greenway Trails cover over 30 miles of the island’s amazing landscape.The trails include acres of land that can not be viewed by travelling the paved roads. Families will enjoy this activity any time of year. None of the trails can be categorized as difficult. Any level of adventurist will find hiking on Block Island enjoyable and breathtaking. Fishing

Block Island is ideal for anyone who loves to fish and boasts some of the best fishing on the East Coast.  Striped Bass, Bluefish, Tautog, Fluke, Sea Bass, Tuna and Sharks are among some of the fish you might find here.  Fishing charters are readily available, while surf casting from the beach, fly fishing and spear fishing are also popular.

Glass Floats Hidden On Block Island!

BLOCK ISLAND GLASS FLOAT PROJECT 2013

WHEN: The hunt begins June 2013 and continues indefinitely….it only ends when all the floats have been found!

WHAT: 400 Glass Floats (glass orbs about the size of a grapefruit) will be hidden on Block Island. Floats will be dated, numbered and stamped with the shape of Block Island. All floats are clear glass except for 13 (because it is 2013), which are special colored orbs. One super special float is made entirely out of gold leaf.
